so it plays alot like bf2 i hear... might be worth a more indepth look at the lan and a possible purchase.

biggest thing is it's EA...that is REALLY putting me off buying it. although previous BF games dont seem to suffer asmuch to EA-badness as others.
....and aslong as i dont buy it via EA Link....

Is the shooting like BF2? as in empty and entire clip and hit nothing... or hit someone about 8 times and they still not die.

I'm sniping with perfect model accuracy and bullet droop seems to be there but not crazy like some titles.

Basically put if i aim 2 inches above your head from 500 yards i will hit your head biggrin.gif

With the automatic weapons if you maintain accuracy by using burst fire it takes 4-5 shots, head shots are mostly insta kills but hard to pull off with anything but a sniper.

It does have some weird bullet reg issues. Just about everything can be sorted by burst fire/single shot though.

For starters, it doesn't seem to reg every bullet if you fire full auto (you'll get about 13 hits out of 30 shots full auto from an M412 point blank into somebodies face). Single shot it though, and every shot will count.

Which leads me into the weapons themselves. There's a handful that stand out dramatically compared to the rest. The M60 (Medic HMG) literally does double the base damage of the other HMGs. Combine that with an ACOG scope and Magnum ammo (for another 25% damage) and single shot it rather than going full auto into somebody, and you'll take people down in 4-5 hits. Good aim, good position and good support, you'll nail 10+ kills in a full clip.

Some of the sniper weapons are a bit... weird. Basically, the game has 4 types of projectiles. The weaker sniper weapons use the same projectiles that the Assault Rifles use, which has less bullet drop applied to it than HMG bullets (which the mid level weapons use). I forget what projectile the M95 uses, but it has MASSIVE bullet drop compared to the rest.

Right now, it's basically in the same place BF2 was before the 1.4 patch (that fixed the majority of the issues). There's horrendous server bugs and oversights that still haven't been fixed (Reserved slots works retardedly, auto team balance doesnt work which combined with the fact that you can only switch teams ONCE per connection to a server before it wont allow you to switch again etc and a handful of other issues).

It's good, and where it is now it can only get better. Compared to the initial releases of other BF games, it's doing pretty well tbh. It's still losing mega points considering the fact it has 0 lan support (NO listen servers in the client PLUS no public dedicated server files) and Dice seem to be "fixing" irrelevent issues above actual problems (latest patch they added square brackets around player clan tags to "stop impersonation attempts" but they've still not said anything about team balance etc).

MrB, please consider sticking it on hardcore mode could you, just for a bit, been on today for some fun, but it much more fun playing on servers with hardcore on, no radar, crosshairs, actually kill people with 1 shot to the head, less nade spamming...

IMO all hardcore mode achives is getting an entire team of snipers, It can be fun with smaller numers but when you have a 32/32 server it becomes a huge pain.

Plus, all those "extras" you associate with Hardcore Mode are seperate settings.

As it stands, turning anything else off (spotting etc) just leads to at least half of each team playing Recon and generally being terrible.

well, i just cant make my mind up - i am tempted to buy, but would like to wait till a decent patch has been released - it'll only put me off like a few titles recently!

if anyone is up for it (once a patch is out), im registering interest for a 4pk buy on steam... £22.50/ea as it stands...
