Please suggest some new or normally unplayed games you'd maybe like to see played at the LAN in March. Just a few things to think of tho ...
1. If you want to consider it for a tournament, does it have a playable mode that would suite a LAN. 2. If a RTS, is there a "quick game" mode, so that games can be played in a reasonable time. For example, Victory Points in Company of Heroes, rather than Annihilation. 3. If a FPS, can it be picked up easily by any casual gamers, without having to know special tricks, or with unlocks that only an experienced player can/has obtained. 4. Will everyone's rig play the game, given that not everyone can afford quad-core CPUs, and multiple GPUs. Other than that, name your suggestions. -------------------- ~ Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 ~ Shuttle SP35P2 ~ 8Gb Kingston Ultra Low Profile ~ ATI HD5770 ~ |

2 Games that I think would be great at the next LAN are....
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - Comes out on march 5th, looks like a typical battlefield game but with alot of improvements like better graphics, squad play, maps, weapons etc. Modern Warfare 2 - Yeh some of us are abit p*ssed that there's no dedi servers on this game but its still very possible to play it at the LAN as a tourney. And as if i need to describe how good this game is Ric. -------------------- |

UT2004 and not UT3. Other than that.. everything we played last LAN.
CSS GG (was a fun change) TF2 (but on Goldrush) Like ric said.. a fun tourney of MW2 L4D2 Scavenge Tekken 6 (on the consoles.. that was fun) Trackmania (open tourney throughout LAN) And here is a suggestion that i don't think has been mentioned before... what about a Day Of Defeat Source game? Just my 2 cents. |

UT3, last man standing like we did that time before.
Would also be good to have a game of original UT. Mario Kart, I can bring my wii, SNES or N64 and we could set up a tournament for that, up to 4 players each match. Also the New Super Mario Wii has quite a good multiplayer coin battle, up to 4 players and I don't just want these cos I will triumph over everyone with these =P I really enjoyed CS gun game. New pro mod? -------------------- |

Fifa and Smackdown vs Raw ?
I perfer my games to be games, and not cheap knock offs of scripted events COD:MW2, considering everyone would have to play on an online server, would this not choke our fairly limited upstream, leading to crap pings, and the change of a single non-player downloading something ruining it for all ? I believe there were port issues at the last LAN, which im sure can be sorted, but due to the reasons mentioned, i dont think planning a tourie around it would be a good idea. Similar with the new BF. Too many games going down the "well, we made the console version, might as well shut the PC gamers up" method. UT Last Man Standing. Wii Mario, or Wii Mario Cart, mainly because, if you CANT play these games, you shouldn't have a computer -------------------- ~ Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 ~ Shuttle SP35P2 ~ 8Gb Kingston Ultra Low Profile ~ ATI HD5770 ~ |

Wii Mario, or Wii Mario Cart, mainly because, if you CANT play these games, you shouldn't have a computer Cursory glance leads me to believe the "server" people would play MW2 on could be hosted at the LAN. Possibly. It's one of those things I don't feel comfortable coming down on either side of the fence (Google gives me conflicting information left right and centre as to how the matchmaking/invitation system works) without owning it and trying it myself. And I've already made it pretty clear that I wouldn't even bother to *cough* appropriate MW2 through various means, let alone spend actual money on buying it. As for the port issues, I clearly don't have a copy of MW2. I did find a supposed list of ports that it wanted access to and added them to the firewall settings, but obviously they were wrong/incomplete (Same thing happened with BFBC2, but I sorted that by virtue of me having a copy of the beta and some MSN discussion with Simon on the Friday/Saturday about pulling log information from the firewall). I think I pointed that out that I'd need somebody to help me out here and try running it with me eyeballing the firewall/tell me their LAN IP so I can look it up. BFBC2 is dependant on if its possible to run a listen server in the client or not. We already know for sure that there will be no public dedicated server release, with the only dedicated servers available in the UK being supplied directly by Multiplay. No listen server, absolutely zero lan capability. Right now, the demo/beta can't start up a listen server, so wether or not it's just being reserved for the actual release or not is debatable. UT LMS was my prefernce for the UT tournament. I had a discussion with somebody that basically came down to "But you'll just promote people camping to save lives!" and so rather than discuss the point, just capitulated and ran it as something else. -------------------- |

Good luck with that, from my past experiences, people moan like hell when ports aren't open, but when you ask them to provide you with a list, or to help you debug it with them connecting while you watch for ports... they soon b****r off, mumbling that you aren't being helpful. -------------------- ~ Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 ~ Shuttle SP35P2 ~ 8Gb Kingston Ultra Low Profile ~ ATI HD5770 ~ |

I know when I asked you to do it in the past, I'd at least MSN you a list of the ports. And if it didn't work, come over and try and work out wtf got missed. FYI BFBC2 wants a ludicrous number of different ports open. -------------------- |

Just an after thought.
Any of you lot heard/seen Blood Bowl? Think American Football except a whole range of races, weapons, cheating, bribing, killing and out and out violence. Make a team (decide how many points you want to set for the teams) make a mini league. It can be played while other tournaments are being run and games can last between 5-15minutes (if i remember right). Hold it over a number of LANs and make it a 'world cup' type league. Just a thought. http://www.bloodbowl-game.com/ -------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() *If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.* *Two drink limit does not mean first and last, two kinds of drinks or the drinks can be as large as I like.* Nerf rock.
